Jus scriptum or ius scriptum is Latin for "written law". The Roman lawyers saw this law as a law issued by public authorities with legislative function. Such law was typically redacted in writing. In later Roman law and in present-day law written laws (leges) which are made by legislative organs of a state predicted by a constitution are considered jus scriptum.[1]
