KDIT-CD, virtual channel 45 (UHF digital channel 17), is a low-power, Class A Decades owned-and-operated television station serving Des Moines, Iowa that is licensed to Marshalltown, United States. The station is owned by Chicago-based Weigel Broadcasting. KDIT-CD's transmitter is located on Reed Avenue north of the city. On cable, the station is available on Mediacom channel 16.
On July 29, 2021, it was reported that Weigel Broadcasting would purchase KDAO-CD for $195,000, pending approval of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The sale does not include the KDAO-CD call sign, which will be retained by MTN Broadcasting.[1] The sale was completed on September 28;[2] and the callsign was changed to KDIT-CD on October 19.[3]
Due to its low-power status, the broadcasting radius does not reach all of the Greater Des Moines area. Therefore, KDIT-CD must rely on cable and satellite carriage to reach the entire market.
