Kami (香美市, Kami-shi) is a city located in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan. As of April 2017, the city has an estimated population of 26,526[1] and a population density of 49 persons per km². The total area is 537.95 km².

The modern city of Kami was established on March 1, 2006,[2] from the merger of the towns of Kahoku and Tosayamada, and the village of Monobe (all from Kami District) which was dissolved as a result of this merger and the merger on the same day that created the new city of Kōnan.[3][4]

Climate[]

The climate in the region is warm and temperate, with significant rainfall throughout the year, even in the driest months. December is considered the month with the least amount of rainfall, around 57 mm. June is the wettest month, with an average of 316 mm. The average annual rainfall is around 2316 mm.[5]

The average annual temperature is 16.4 °C. August is the warmest month, with an average temperature of 27.2 °C, and January is the coldest month, reaching an average of 5.9 °C. According to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification, the climate in that locality is classified as CFA (humid subtropical climate).[5]
