Kantrili is known for its ancient and traditional cultures and modern-day achievements. Each year on the third weekend of February, a famous Mela (fair) is held there. Thousands of people and dignitaries attend this event in the local sports calendar.
The main event is the bull races. although in other years there are also tent pegging competitions, during which up to a hundred horses and riders take part. Patthar (stone)lifting competitions where the local strongmen show off their skills lifting weight up to 300 kg
There are usually around 80 pairs of bulls vying to get the greatest numbers of revolutions around a Persian Water Wheel within an allocated ten minutes. The event is strictly controlled with adjudicators and judges enforcing the rules of no cruelty or persuasion of the animals who must complete the circuit unaided and of their own accord. It is a great test of the animals willingness to work with the owners. In the day and age of tractors mechanicalized farming it is one of the few things that keep these ancient traditions and techniques alive.
Kantrili has always had the best prize bulls since the past and their family's withhold their prides.
Bull racing is the most popular sport in Pakistan and kantrili is the epicentre for contesting party's from the city to compete.
Young Ch RC is the reigning boss of the village since 1955 described as a amazing character with tremendous attributes which has long crowned him Jhelum king. He is affiliated with the Pakistan military, royal secret service, Chinese secret service and Russian secret service; a very spectacular, heroic and gentle arrival coming from leading national underworlds. He is a man with strict morals for his strong religious beliefs and welcomes all casts from Pakistan to dine at his gatherings.
Ch Abbas Gujar and Ch Zia have the best and (bulls) in the region, and are also famous in the area, having won numerous prizes and competitions. A prize bull can be not only very valuable but a source of immense pride and prestige. Consequently, the animals are treated by being fed high protein nutritious diets and appropriate exercise. Many of the competition animals are valued at around £10,000 ukp the family is known for hosting Humungous Islamic peer functions nationally. Cricket is another sport played by the locals, and youngsters, and these team matches are played wherever possible, there are usually big matches and tournaments with villages including chandala, these are normally 5–10 over matches organised by local leaders with big prizes star players include Ch Sheraz and Ch butt. Kantrili also has a football, kabaddi, and bare-knuckle boxing team. CH Rafaqat bodybuilder is a champion bar (stone lifter) and has many numerous trophies and records. Cockfighting is also popular among youngsters taking place in empty fields and also collecting pigeons. Pigeon flying competitions are very common in Pakistan and Ch Sheraz has the best animals in the region. Hunting wild pigs and big cats in the jungles and other animals is also a favourite pastime. In summer, kite flying is popular and can be seen on many rooftops. CH Iftikhar is a famous mela announcer and is well known all over the region, Ch Qurban is a well-respected ex mp and local politician. Ch Manzoor is a very respected and influential village member and so is Ch Shafiq. The village takes pride in their security and protection with armed guards throughout the village for the local bank and general protection. Kantrili is commonly known for its citizens licensed artillery collections with statistical analysis results from Ch Asif showing its 5 weapons per household, Ch RC is currently the regions number 1. with an astounding 33 weapon arsenal. The village has 4-5 mosques, including the big one opposite saak di atti and barre mam a shiat mosque, naikbandi masjid as well as a few other smaller mosques, there is also a darbar located there. there is also a big janazakhana owned by Ch RC located on the entrance to the village. Ch Shakeel, Ch Asad and Ch Jameel are also well respected political diplomats of Jhelum. Ch Asad (PTI) is the longest supporting and contributing politician for imran khan (PM) and has global achievements as well as Ch rafique and family. there is a main set of shops including 5 barber shops, many jewellers, a tailor shop, a few sweet and cigarette shops, mechanic shops, rikshaw bases, car hire companies, minimarket, and also a snooker hall, where most of the youth spend most of their time. There are multiple good standard schools, educational institutions for all and women's schools. There is also a village council building where Ch azar darr makes district decisions. Kantrili is a diverse community with national friendship with Jatt, Kashmiri etc.. leaders. Kantrili is a village that helps citizens from around the world doing poor in their communities. Ch Ejaz and family are the community leading organiser for charity.
In recent years, there has been an increase of kotis (grand mansion/house) getting built over the village, reflecting the change in the village, and many are still under construction, the jatt family's were the first to begin this movement of transforming kantrili. a lot of families have relatives abroad in America, England and UAE, and a lot of people visit kantrili for its contribution in farming and industry
