Katarzyna Julia Sanak-Kosmowska (born 21 December 1984) is a Polish marketing and public relations theorist and academic, author of several dozen papers in the field of marketing science, assistant professor at the Marketing Department at the Kraków University of Economics.

Biography[]

She was born in 1984 as the daughter of Marek Sanak, a molecular biologist; and Iwona Sanak, voivodeship consultant in the field of pediatric dentistry.

She attended the Bartłomiej Nowodworski High School in Kraków, where she passed the matriculation examination. She graduated from BA studies (2006) and from MA studies (2008) in management and marketing at the Jagiellonian University.[1][2][3] In 2006, she studied at the IECS – The Strasbourg Graduate School of Management within the Socrates-Erasmus programme.[3] In 2010, she completed a master's degree in psychology at the Jagiellonian University.[1][2][3]

Initially, she started working as an online marketing and social media specialist, and conducted trainings for private companies.[3] In 2015, she started working as an assistant in the Department of Marketing at the Kraków University of Economics.[3] Since October 2017, she has been working in this department as an assistant professor.[1][3]

In 2017, she obtained a PhD in economics in the field of management sciences at the Kraków University of Economics, on the basis of the dissertation The Role of Social Networking Sites in Brand Marketing Communication,[1][3] which was published as a book in 2018.[3][4]

Beside, she has published as the author or co-author several dozen papers in scholarly journals,[3] including: Prace Naukowe Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego we Wrocławiu, Studia i Prace Wydziału Nauk Ekonomicznych i Zarządzania Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego,[5] Zeszyty Naukowe Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Poznaniu;[3] and contributed to several monographs.[3]

In 2017 and 2018, she was awarded the Kraków University of Economics Rector's Award in the category of “lecturer best rated by students”.[2][3] In February 2018, as part of the Erasmus program, she has been visiting at the HAMK Häme University of Applied Sciences.[3]

In her research, she is mainly interested in the issues of marketing communication, psychology of consumer behaviour and digital marketing.[4] She was involved in researching, among others research, on the impact of advertising on consumers, remembering ads, cognitive errors, manipulation and persuasion techniques in advertising, open innovation and crowdsourcing.[2][3]

As part of cooperation with the Children's University operating at the Kraków University of Economics, he has been conducting classes for children since 2011.[3] For several years, she has been teaching at children's universities in various Polish cities.[3]

She was elected a member of the Polish Scientific Society of Marketing (2017), American Marketing Association (2018) and the Rzecznicy Nauki Association (The Spokesmen of Science) (2018).[3][4]
