Kavita Bala

Kavita Bala (born 1971) is an Indian computer scientist and academic. She is a professor in computer science at Cornell University, and has been appointed the Dean of the Faculty for Computing and Information Science.[1][2] Her research expertise is in the area of computer vision and computer graphics using deep learning. Some of her work on cloud rendering is the core production engine in Autodesk's cloud renderer.

Education[]

She received a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology and Master of Science (M.S) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[1]

Career[]

Bala is also the co-founder of Grokstyle, a graphics search company that was recently acquired by Facebook.[3][4] She is an Associate editor of ACM Transactions on Graphics.[5]
