Keeping The Nite Light Burning is an acoustic studio album by the English rock band Magnum, released in 1993 by Jet Records.

Inspired by MTV Unplugged, Tony Clarkin liked the idea or rearranging some of their older material, with an acoustic and contemporary style. He stripped down arrangements, changed timing and expanded with a horn section and a cello to achieve reggae, blues, jazz, a cappella and soul-elements into Magnum's new sound.

Magnum parted company with their manager, Keith Baker, and Mark Stanway took over management. Baker had seen the band through their most successful era, taking them from house residence at a pub to selling out arena tours across the world.[1] The album didn't chart, and was not followed by a tour to support it.[2]

"The Prize" and "One Night of Passion" are taken from ''The Eleventh Hour''

"Heartbroke And Busted", "Only A Memory" and "Shoot" are taken from ''Goodnight L.A.''

"Foolish Heart" is taken from ''Magnum II''

"Lonely Night" and "Need A Lot of Love" are taken from ''Vigilante''

"Start Talking Love" is taken from ''Wings of Heaven''

"Maybe Tonight" is a ''Wings of Heaven'''s outtake, taken from ''Days of No Trust'''s b-side

"Without Your Love" 4:45 is a ''Kingdom of Madness''' outtake

"Soldier of the Line" is taken from ''Chase the Dragon''

Sleeve notes[]

When the suggestion of an acoustic album was first made we were attracted to the idea of giving some old favourites "new suits" unrestricted by style and form besides those naturally associated with the word "acoustic," we set to recording. Each song has developed its own unique direction from vocal extravaganza to full line up with horns. We hope you enjoy the re-dressed songs as much as we did recording them.[3] — Magnum

"For the album Keeping The Nite Light Burning the band asked me to design the lettering. The twelve tracks are Magnum Classics played on acoustic instruments."[4] — Rodney Matthews
