Keira D'Amato

Keira D'Amato (born Keira Carlstrom[1] on April 21, 1984) is a professional runner for the United States of America. She set the American women's record in the marathon (pending ratification) on January 16, 2022 at the Houston Marathon.

Biography[]

D'Amato ran for American University from 2002 to 2006, where she was a four-time All-American and 11-time Patriot League champion. She ended her post-collegiate career in 2009 after an injury, but resumed running in 2016.[2] In 2020 she set the American record for the 10-mile women's-only race in 51:23, breaking the previous record set in 2014 by Janet Cherobon-Bawcom,[3] and following further success at multiple distances that year she signed a sponsorship deal with Nike in February 2021.[2] On January 16, 2022, she ran the American record in the marathon at the Houston Marathon (pending ratification), finishing in 2:19:12 and taking 24 seconds off the previous American record set by Deena Kastor in 2006.[4]
