Keith Langley (born 3 June 1961) is a British gymnast, Psychophysicist and Computer Scientist. He competed at the 1980 Summer Olympics and the 1984 Summer Olympics.[1]

Education[]

Langley was educated at the Ernesford Grange Community Academy (formerly Ernesford Grange School), a secondary comprehensive school with sixth form facilities in the Ernesford Grange area of Coventry, England gaining 3 A-levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Langley took a gap year before progressing onto University in order to compete for selection in the 1979 World Gymnastic Championships in Fort Worth, and the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Langley graduated from the University of Warick in 1984 in Electrical Engineering. During his final Robotics paper, Langley was given special permission by the University of Warwick to begin the paper 1 hour earlier, in order to make the final trial for the 1984 Olympics, held in Birmingham later that day. Langley started a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Warick in 1984, but temporarily stopped, coinciding with injury and retirement from Gymnastics in 1985. In the interim period, Langley completed an MA in Sports Science at the University of Birmingham, before returning to the PhD and completing the period of study and being awarded a PhD in Computer Science in August 1990. His specialist area was Machine Vision .
