Otolorin Kehinde Peter, performing as Kenny Blaq, is a Nigerian stand-up comedian and singer.[1]
Early life[]
He trained as a compere and presenter at the FRCN training school in Lagos after having had a stint with SMA FM, a college community-based radio station.[2]
Career[]
Blaq started his comedy career in 2008.[3] He has performed in comedy shows like I laff with Mc Abbey, Gbenga Adeyinka (Laffmattaz), Ali Baba's (January 1stconcert), Mc Amana's (DiSpeakable Me), Cool FM Praise JAM, DAREY's Love Like A Movie, AY LIVE, BasketMouth's (Lord of the Ribs).[4]
His show The Oxymoron Of Kennyblaq won Best Comedy Show at the 2017 and 2018 Naija 102.3 FM Comedy Awards.[5][6]
At the Indigo O2 Blaq on 30 September 2018, Blaq had his first major headlined international event, titled "Kenny Blaq 'State of Mind'" [7][8] Blaq appeared at "Indaba X; The Laughing Leopard Comedy event", which took place at Royal Festival Hall.[9][10][11]
Blaq was recognised in 2018 as one of the 100 most influential youths in Africa[12] and, in 2020, received the Ooni Youth Royal Award.[13] Kenny Blaq and Entertainment teamed up to present the "Kenny Blaq: State of Mind" Comedy Show which had successfully made its way down to Nigeria from London. Blaq and his crew made their first tertiary invasion at Federal University of Technology Owerri before making their way down to the cradle of Yorubland, Ile-Ife and particularly Obafemi Awolowo University Campus alias " Great Ife" on Thursday 19 March which was a total shutdown.
Inside OAU Innovations, a media company in Obafemi Awolowo University reported that kenny blaq makes history with his sold-out performance at the "Kenny Blaq: State of Mind" concert which held at Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile-ife biggest hall "Amphitheatre" , there were over 5,000 people at the concert [14]
