Khandaker Asaduzzaman (22 October 1935 – 25 April 2020) (Bengali: খন্দকার আসাদুজ্জামান) was a Bangladeshi Civil Servant and is known as the First Finance Secretary of Independent Bangladesh in the Mujibnagar Government. [1]

Early life[]

Khandaker Asaduzzaman was born on 22 October 1935. He had a B.A. Honors and a M.A. degree.[2]

Career[]

A valiant Freedom Fighter,[3] Bangladesh Awami League Politician and a Member of Parliament from Tangail-2, Mr. Khandaker Asaduzzaman was the first Finance Secretary of the Mujibnagar Government (Independent Bangladesh). [4] He was elected as a Member of Parliament 3 times; in 1996, 2008 and 2014 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate from Tangail-2.[5] He was the President of Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Parishad.[6]

Mr. K.A.Zaman was arrested in 1971 for his valiant role during the Liberation of Bangladesh and was placed beside the jail of our 4 national leaders; Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Capt. Mansur Ali and AHM Quamruzzaman. [7]

From being the youngest Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi pre-71’ to winning his first elections on the victory of the Awami League in 96’, Mr. Khandaker Asaduzzman has held various positions in the government from being appointed as the Advisor to the Prime Minister [8] to holding the positions of Chairman of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Parishad, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Parishad, and the Chairman of the Establishment Ministry.

Khandaker Asaduzzman was also elected president of Dhaka Club Limited for 2 consecutive years.[9]

Death[]

Khandaker Asaduzzaman died on 25 April 2020.[10]
