Khuda Aur Muhabbat (Urdu: خُدا اور محبّت‎, lit.'God and Love') is the third season of Pakistani spiritual-romance series Khuda Aur Mohabbat. Produced by Abdullah Kadwani and under 7th Sky Entertainment, it features Iqra Aziz and Feroze Khan in lead roles. The season premiered on 12 February 2021.[1][2]

Plot[]

The season starts with Mahi and her sister-in-law arriving in Lahore and exiting a train station, when Mahi yells at a man, Taimoor, who accidentally stole her luggage, but after he reaches home, Taimoor can't stop thinking about her. A young man named Farhad is part of a poor family, and he is often ridiculed and teased by his older brother Sajjad and younger sister Fariya (usually called Fari) but mostly by his neighbour Naheed. His family mostly call him Feedi. After learning that Farhad is cheating in his studies, his parents send him somewhere to work.

Farhad and Mahi initially meet at the wedding of her best friend in Lahore where their friendship blossoms. Mahi uses this time as a release from her strict life at home and enjoys Farhad's company only as a platonic friendship whereas Farhad starts falling in love with Mahi. After the wedding in Lahore, Mahi returns home but to her surprise Farhad follows her to win her heart and to find out if she reciprocates his feelings. Farhad starts working as a guard for Mahi's brother, Nazim Shah, and finds out Mahi hails from a very rich and influential family where it is difficult to see or speak to her. Another female servant, Sajal, falls in love with Farhad but he tells her that his love lies elsewhere.

Taimoor then tells his mother and his brother that he is in love with a girl, whose name he learnt as Mahi when he told his servants to keep going after her and find out who she is, and after meeting Mahi's family, they give Taimoor the good news that they agreed to get Mahi married to him. Mahi, at first, doesn't want to get married to him after what happened at the train station, but after a while, Mahi decides that Taimoor is a good man.

Mahi prepares to marry Taimoor and Farhad can not bear the news so he tells her about why she can't just look at him directly in the eyes and tell him about her feelings but Mahi makes it clear that she doesn't feel the same way. Farhad is heartbroken and unknowingly curses her saying that she will never find peace and will suffer every moment and leaves whereas Mahi can't get him out of her mind and is worried that if her family were to find out they would kill Farhad.

Soon after, the news reaches Mahi, Sajal, Mahi's sister-in-law, the family in Lahore, Nazim Shah and Kazim Shah (Mahi's father), Farhad's family and Naheed (who has been living with his family since he left his home to follow Mahi back to her home town) that Farhad has been killed in a train accident upon which Mahi and Farhad's mother both faint. Despite this, Mahi’s wedding takes place and when Mahi and Taimoor are on their way to their new home, Taimoor is shot and dies. The perpetrators of this murder turn out to be territorial enemies of Mahi's family. Mahi is widowed on her wedding day and both families are left devastated by this unexpected tragedy.

Farhad's mother is now in a critical condition with the doctor saying to Farhad's family to keep her away from stress and tension, and she becomes depressed and she is always thinking about Farhad. The Derwesh is seen recalling his prophecy of how there will be shenai (wedding celebrations) as well as maatam (mourning).

Taimoor's mother, Jagirdaarni, belongs to a famed landowner family of Multan, and is completely distraught about her son's death. She is aware that he has been killed by an enemy of Nazim Shah and publicly holds him accountable. She refuses to allow Mahi to go back to Bahawalpur, her maternal home, despite Mahi's mum requesting this. She demands that Mahi stays with her family for the sake of tradition.

Flashbacks unveil how Farhad did not die, instead he made his way to the train station looking to leave, and giving his watch and shawl to someone else. In a very distraught state he is on another train, with some time being passed after his "death", he finds himself in the ladies compartment. Here he encounters Rumana and her mother. The mother becomes suspicious of Farhad and accuses him of stealing from their belongings demanding that he open his hands. To her embarrassment, she finds only a tasbih bead in his hand, which he found after he last talked to Mahi. Farhad continues his journey on a train to Multan, City of the Saints. Rumana is the courtesan entangled with Sikandar, Taimoor's older brother.

The train stops, and Farhad realizes he is in an unknown city with no friends or family and wanders around, eventually making his way to a famous Shrine where he encounters the Darwesh who welcomes him.

Mahi's parents worry about how she is coping in unfamiliar surroundings with a new family in Multan especially since the Jagirdaarni's obvious resentment towards the family following Taimoor's death. However, over time Mahi develops a bond with the Jagidaarni who is taken by Mahi's loving behaviour towards her two grandchildren. Sikandar is kinder to Mahi and tries to integrate her into family life.

Rumana, after her encounter on the train with Farhad, is seen constantly thinking about him. She often mentions him to her Mother, Chanda Bhai, who is the Head Courtesan of the brothel. Rumana seems to have developed feelings for Farhad. The story shows how so many women from different walks of life have fallen in love with Farhad. From his neighbour to Mahi's servant and now one of the leading mistresses of Multan, yet his heart is stuck in the memories of his beloved Mahi.

It has now been forty days since the death of Taimoor. Jagirdaarni reluctantly agrees to invite Mahi's family from Bahawalpur for the special prayers. She continues to behave in a crude and cold manner towards Mahi. Mahi's mother sees this and becomes angry at her daughter for staying the full period of her iddat. Meanwhile, Jagirdaarni has requested the Derwesh to attend the prayer gathering and make dua. He agrees and takes Farhad with him not knowing he is so close to his beloved. The Darwesh reaches the doorstep of the haveli and offers prayers there, returning from that very spot.

Later, the Derwesh asks Farhad to get things from the market for the mazaar, but when he goes there, he meets Rumana there. She brings him to his house and they have a little talk right before Sikandar arrives and meets Farhad. Meanwhile, back in Multan, after seeing Mahi crying while reading namaz, Jagirdaarni realizes her mistakes of misbehaving with Mahi, and soon asks for forgiveness. Farhad and Mahi keep having dreams of their encounters but they don't know why. Meanwhile, Naheed is getting married and Farhad's mother believes that Farhad is the man that Naheed is marrying. After realizing that Farhad is still gone, she becomes depressed again.

Back in Multan, after asking Sikandar's main servant where he was the night before, Jagirdaarni finds out that Sikandar went to Rumana's house and couldn't come home because there was heavy rain the night before and all the streets were closed, and the servant requests that the family should prepare for Sikandar's new wedding. The Derwesh then asks Farhad to go back to the same haveli they went for dua.

Then two servants ask Jagirdaarni to get Mahi married to Sikandar, to which she agrees because it is the end of her iddat and she doesn't want Mahi to go. Later, Mahi secretly sends the same two servants to send an invitation to the haveli to the woman Sikandar keeps meeting, not knowing that is the same girl she met when it was 40 days since Taimoor's death. When the girl, revealed to be Romana, gets the invitation, she suddenly becomes happy and decides to go there. When Romana goes to the haveli and Mahi sees who she is, they talk and Romana decides to never meet Sikandar again. However, Jagirdaarni witnesses this and Mahi thinks that she is angry at her but she is actually happy that she told her off and they embrace. Later, Sikandar comes and Jagirdaarni asks Sikandar to marry Mahi, to which Sikandar denies.

Then, Romana comes back to her house and decides to go anywhere but where she lives because she is now heartbroken over Sikandar. Jagirdaarni, Mahi, and a few servants go to the mazaar and they give things to the people over there, then Mahi suddenly hands something to Farhad, and they both see each other for the first time since Mahi and Farhad's talk in the library before Farhad's supposed "death". Mahi then faints after seeing him.

After bringing Mahi back to the haveli after she fainted at the mazaar, Jagirdaarni is greeted by Mahi's mother and sister-in-law, to which Mahi's mother thinks that Jagirdaarni is the reason why Mahi is in this condition. After regaining consciousness, Mahi then tells her sister-in-law about Farhad still being alive. Then, Mahi decides to make her mother and Jagirdaarni friends, to which they both agree.

Meanwhile, Sikandar arrives at Romana's house and reads a letter from her saying that she is going somewhere and she won't return. Sikandar then decides to find out what happened to Romana. At the mazaar, Farhad is still in shock after seeing Mahi and goes to the haveli, like the Derwesh told him to do, and he sees Mahi and her sister-in-law on the haveli's terrace.

They both turn around and see Farhad, who walks back in shock because now he knows that Mahi lives in the haveli he kept coming to and now he knows that the Derwesh kept sending him on purpose because he knew everything from start to finish, and the Derwesh knew that their meetings were bound to happen at some point.

After seeing Mahi at the haveli, Farhad leaves in shock denying Jagirdaarni's request for sitting inside. Soon after, Farhad goes back to the mazaar and confronts the Derwesh and asks him why did he make Farhad keep meeting her, and the Derwesh replies saying that no matter what, they will always meet each other. Farhad asks a random man at the mazaar about the woman who keeps coming here, Jagirdaarni, and why she keeps coming here. The man then tells Farhad that Mahi's husband, Taimoor, was murdered on their wedding night when they were travelling back home by Kazim Shah's enemies, so they kept coming here to pray to get better. Farhad then remembers what he said to Mahi before her marriage and realizes that he has cursed her.

After being asked about marrying Mahi, Sikandar agrees to marry her but only if she agrees. Elsewhere, Romana's mother gets a visit from her neighbours saying that the other neighbours are gossiping that two women have moved here. She replies saying that they should continue thinking, and they don't care what they think. Then, Mahi tells her sister-in-law, Sahiba, that she has decided to meet Farhad face-to-face at the mazaar and will ask for forgiveness.

Mahi, Sahiba, Jagirdaarni, Mahi's mother, and Sikandar all go to the mazaar then Sahiba tells Mahi to go meet Farhad. When she sees him, she asks him why he made himself a mess and why he can't just go back home and Farhad replies that he will only go back to his home with Mahi. Then, Mahi gives Farhad the taweez (necklace) that he gave to her back to him saying that she will only wear it when he actually goes back home.

When Sikandar starts looking for Mahi, Sahiba sees this and goes to Mahi and they leave but Sikandar sees them and Sikandar sees Farhad and recognizes him as the man that he met at Romana's house. He then asks Farhad if he ever saw Romana after he was at her house but Farhad then replies saying that he hasn't met her since he was at her house. Sikandar then asks Farhad to immediately tell him if Farhad if he ever sees Romana again, to which Farhad agrees. Farhad then realizes that he can see Mahi within the taweez.

Then, Kazim Shah and Nazim Shah come to the haveli to visit Mahi, and Jagirdaarni requests that Mahi should stay for a couple more days, which makes them both agree. They both then tell Mahi's mother, Maa Ji, that Sikandar is a very nice man and that Nazim Shah is gonna be participating in an election, when Maa Ji tells then both that Jagirdaarni only wants Mahi to stay because she wants Mahi to get married to Sikandar. After talking, they eventually agree to getting them married. Mahi is then seen in stress, when Sahiba asks her why she can't just accept that she has also fallen in love with Farhad.
