Kirby of the Stars: The Story of Dedede Who Lives in Pupupu (星のカービィ デデデでプププなものがたり, Hoshi no Kābyi Dedede de Pupupu Na Monogatari) is a Japanese manga series written by  [ja] based on the video game series of the same name. The manga follows the many adventures of Kirby and various other characters from the game series. The manga is set in the same universe as the video games, although it is not officially considered canon. The manga ran in Shogakukan's monthly CoroCoro Comic from April 27, 1995 through October 27, 2006, and was released in 25 individual tankōbon volumes.[1] After that, an additional episode was published on The Winter 2017 issue of CoroCoro Aniki, the original intention being to make it the real last episode. However, reappearing on The Summer 2018 issue, the manga started to run regularly again, on Corocoro Aniki.

Characters[]

Aside from Kirby himself, the manga features many of the characters from the Kirby series of games, including Meta Knight, King Dedede, and many of the regular enemies and bosses from the games as well.

English release[]

On December 16, 2009, Endgadget reported that Kirby of the Stars would be localized in North America by publisher Viz Media, slated to begin releasing in September 2010.[2] Although some of the listings for the manga can still be found online, the manga mysteriously never came out as planned. Viz removed the listings from their own site sometime in 2011 with no explanation.

However, on October 16th 2020, Viz Media announced that the first volume of the Kirby Manga releases on June 8th 2021 under the Kirby Manga Mania.[3][4][5]

France release[]

On July 22, 2020, Soleil Productions announced that French versions of the first two volumes, entitled Les aventures de Kirby dans les étoiles, would be released as part of Soleil Manga collection of Soleil Productions simultaneously on September 2, 2020.
