Kiton is an Italian luxury menswear company founded by Ciro Paone in 1968 and based in Arzano, in the Metropolitan City of Naples.[1][2]
History[]
Kiton was founded by Ciro Paone in Arzano (province of Naples) in 1968.[3] The name Kiton derives from "chiton", the ceremonial tunic worn by the ancient Greeks to pray to the gods of Olympus.[4][5]
In 1995, Kiton launched a line of womenswear.[6] In 2009, Kiton bought the Carlo Barbera woollen mill in Biella (founded in 1949).[7] In 2013, Kiton launched its retail operations in India.[8] In 2015, Kiton launched its eyewear collection[9] and opened a 2,500-square-foot store in San Francisco.[10] In 2018, Kiton launched an athleisure collection.[11]

Kiton is the trademark brand of the company Ciro Paone SpA, a company founded in 1956.[12][13] As of 2019, the company employs about 800 employees and manages 50 stores worldwide.[14] Antonio de Matteis, nephew of Ciro Paone, is CEO of the company.[15] Maria Giovanna Paone, daughter of Ciro Paone, is the vice-president and the creative director of the brand's womenswear.[16]
Kiton have five factories[5] in Arzano, Collecchio, Fidenza, Marcianise and Biella.
