Kotlarnia [kɔˈtlarɲa] (German: Jakobswalde) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Bierawa, within Kędzierzyn-Koźle County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.^[1] It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) east of Bierawa, 16 km (10 mi) south-east of Kędzierzyn-Koźle, and 54 km (34 mi) south-east of the regional capital Opole.

Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (see Territorial changes of Poland after World War II).

The village has a population of 743.

During WWII the German had a large prisoner of war camp in what was called then Jakobswalde. British soldiers were imprisoned here, including a group of Jewish Pioneers from the British Army, who volunteered from "The Land of Israel" (also known as "Palestine", Which was under the British Mandate at that time). They were used as a forced labor, and worked at the forest. Next to them was also a labor camp of Jews that came from Auschwitz. The British prisoner of war shared their food with the starving Jews of Auschwitz. At the end of the war they all had to march from the camp to Germany in what was called the Death March. A March that had cost the lives of so many.
