Kottampatti block

Kottampatti is a village in Madurai, which is district border in North direction on Nation Highway. Kottampatti is also one of revenue block in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, India. It has a total of 27 panchayat villages (including 247 villages).

Kottampatti also act as centre of point for surrounding villages for education, hospitals and other government offices. It is also junction for three districts (Sivagangai, Trichy, Dindigul).

The total geographical area of village is 702.83 hectares. Kottampatti has a total population of 5,406 peoples. There are about 1,375 houses in Kottampatti village.

Village is also famous for its Taxi club. Which is quit different from any other villages, yes it has only taxis which includes only Cars. Auto are restricted. Because of people of kottampatti and surrounding villages loves to travel on Indian classic Ambassador car. You can witness cars linnedup in the front face of kottampatti bustand.

Spotting a python in the village has been nothing new for the residents of Kottampatti panchayat, situated around 40km away from the city. There have been so many incidents of pythons, namely, the Indian Rock Python variety, straying into the neighbourhood that the snakes hardly raise a scare.

It is also famous for its temple festivals among the villages. Kalliamman kovil festival, Baghavathi amman kovil, Poisolla Mei Ayyanar kovil.
