Kurulu Pihatu (Bird Feathers) (Sinhala: කුරුළු පිහාටු) is a 2006 Sri Lankan Sinhala philosophical drama film directed by Sumith Kumara and produced by Paul Newman for F.T Entertainments.[1] It stars Sajitha Anthony and Jackson Anthony in lead roles along with Dilhani Ekanayake and Hemasiri Liyanage.[2] Music composed by Ananda Gamage.[3] It is the 1165th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema.[4]
Plot[]
Saman is a 13-year-old innocent boy who wants to be ordained. His parents are separated and both neglect Saman. Sometimes he goes to the road to meet his maternal grandfather who is a beggar. One day, he meets a monk and tells him he want to become a monk, too. The monk asks him to get permission from parents. Saman returns home to seek his mother, Shalika, permission. She has recently married Charuka. When Saman tries to meet his mother, Charuka expels Saman from the house. After that, Saman lives with his grandfather.
Meanwhile, Saman's father, Chandrasekara scolds Shalika for the disappearance of Saman. Shalika worries about her son and asks Charuka about Saman. He tells that he can't live with a beggar. After hearing this, Shalika becomes angry and quarrels with him. After that, Charuka abandons her.
Rain destroys Saman and his grandfather's shelter. Exposed to the storm, they both catch pneumonia. Saman's grandfather dies on the road while Saman shivers on the road. Chandrasekara finds Saman on the road and rushes to the hospital. Shalika learns about Saman and apologizes to him for her mistakes. Then, she permits Saman to become a monk.
Finally, Saman recovers and is ordained. His parents and grandmother visit the temple while he was in prom.
