Laneville is an unincorporated community in south central Rusk County, Texas, United States. A Texas Historical Site here is the McCune Family Cemetery, founded in 1838 to lay to rest members of the Bohannon Wagon Train who were allowed to camp on their farmland and who succumbed to a deadly fever. The descendants of both families have been buried there to this day.

History[]

The town came into being as a crossroads community in the 1880s. The intersection of four "lanes" furnished the town's name. The town was granted a post office in 1888. Today, the "four" lanes are FM 225 and FM 1798.[1]

Education[]

The community of Laneville is served by the Laneville Independent School District and home to the Laneville High School Yellow Jackets.
