Lawrence Barnes (born July 17, 1954) is a former American football running back who played 3 seasons, for the San Diego Chargers, St Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles.[1]

Early life[]

Larry Barnes was born on July 17, 1954 in Bessemer, Alabama. He went to high school at Jess Lanier (AL).

Professional career[]

San Diego Chargers

Barnes was drafted in the 6th round (151st pick) of the 1977 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. He wore number 35 for the Chargers. In 1977 he played 5 games and had 24 rushes for 70 yards.[2] In 1978 he played in 4 games for the Chargers before going to the St Louis Cardinals.

St Louis Cardinals

In 1978 he played in two games for the Cardinals before then going to the Philadelphia Eagles. In two games with the Cardinals he had 0 rush attempts.

Philadelphia Eagles

He signed with his 3rd team in 1978, the Philadelphia Eagles. He played in 7 games for them but only had 1 rush attempt. However, on the one attempt he scored a touchdown.[3] In 1979 he had his best season, he ran 25 times for 74 yards and a touchdown. After that season he did not play another game.[4]
