Lars Lindberg Christensen is science communicator and author of a dozen books on astronomy and science communication translated to ten languages.[1] He had a long career at ESO and is employed by NSF's NOIRLab and the International Astronomical Union. As press officer for the latter he was leading the media communication of the 2006 IAU reclassification of Pluto as a dwarf planet.[2][3] He leads the Portal to the Universe[4][5] project, and was the initiator of the ESA/ESO/NASA FITS Liberator project.[6] He leads the Hubblecast[7] and ESOcast[8] video podcasts and initiated the Astronomy Visualization Metadata project,[9] that later became the Virtual Astronomy Multimedia Project. He has received a handful of awards[10] including the Danish Tycho Brahe Medal.[11]
