Laura Bicāne (born 18 June 1990) is a Latvian singer and songwriter.

Laura Bicane studied at Špoģi music and art school where she learned how to play the accordion. Laura has learned to play acoustic guitar by herself. Her first composed songs she performed in the Špoģi Secondary School, for classmates. 2017 she graduated from Daugavpils Staņislava Broka Music high school with qualification as a classical guitar player.

Since 2007, Bicane has participated in various music festivals in Latgale (the region of Latvia), and her first songs were recorded for the radio of Latgale.

In 2010, she awarded the second place in the German Live Act contest "Fehmarn sucht den Inselstar”.

In 2012 she participated in Eirodziesma 2012 with her own song "Freakin' Out".[1]

In the same year, Laura won the first prize at A-Eiropa contest „Hello Daugavpils”.

In 2013 in cooperation with latgalian positiv rock band „Dabasu Durovys” came out Laura's first album „Es tikai ļaujūs”, that included songs in different languages.

After almost one and a half years, in April 2015 Laura presented her second CD „Trīspuksti”. The CD was made in cooperation with musician Valdis Indrišonoks. All songs in the CD are written using the text of haiku. These haiku are written by Egita Terēze Jonāne.

In May 2017 came out Laura's third album "Lauzīsimies cauri pūlim" with 10 compositions in Latvian, Latgalian, and English languages, along with one instrumental song.

The songwriter is also well known among other Latvian songwriters, that participate in Latvian songwriter festival in Lielkrūzes and other festivāls. In 2014 and 2015 Laura participated in festival „BILDES” new songwriter concert.

In 2013 Laura Bicane together with another Latvian songwriter Kārlis Kazāks represented Latvia in Lithuania at a singing poetry festival „Tai - aš”. She has given concerts also in another countries – France, Germany, Belgium, Lithuania.

Laura has given concerts organized by Latgalian student center, by IFES (international fellowship of evangelical students),has taken part also in Daugavpils city festivals, Saint Joseph festival in Līvbērze, in museum nights activities in Liepāja and Lūznava, in the festival „Mīlestība nav mirusi” in Saldus, in Francophonie days activities, and in other live music festivals.

The songwriter is organizing private concerts in her home region Latgale, in other cities of Latvia (also in the biggest cities, like Riga, Daugavpils, Liepaja, Ventspils).

The Latgalian culture prize „Boņuks” was given to Laura twice – in 2010 for the debut in literature and in 2012 for the debut in music.

The most popular song of Laura is „Mīlesteiba”. The lyrics are from the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13. The song was recorded during the Project „Jauna slavas dziesma 2012”.

Now Laura is working on new songs and projects.
