Leave It to Beaver (season 6)

June and Ward suggest that Wally ask his girlfriend Julie Foster out for a dinner date at a restaurant of her choice, because he has often eaten dinner at her house and needs to reciprocate. Julie suggests the White Fox, which is the most expensive restaurant in town. Ward offers to loan Wally the money; and all seems well, until Wally forgets his wallet at home. His parents find the wallet, call the restaurant, and instruct them to put the bill on Ward's account, Ward being a frequent patron when entertaining business clients. When Wally discovers he forgot his wallet, there's a brief moment of panic as he tries to figure out what to do; but the waiter just asks Wally to sign for the check, and all is well.

Beaver starts a conflict in the Cleaver household when he refuses to wear a coat and tie to a formal father-son football awards banquet, as all the boys had agreed they would only dress casual. Eventually Ward allows Beaver to wear casual attire to the banquet, and Beaver is embarrassed when they arrive and all the other boys are in coats and ties. Thankfully Ward, realizing Beaver has learned his lesson, takes him back to the car, where he has a coat and tie prepared for Beaver to change into.

Wally starts taking driving lessons at high school and makes a lot of mistakes.

Beaver goes to the local newspaper after school to get a job as a paper boy, but another kid has beaten him to it. When the other kid turns out to be a girl and isn't doing a very good job, Beaver gets excited that she'll be fired. Then he learns that her brother was the one who had gotten the job, then became ill; so she filled in to keep him from losing it. Beaver lies in wait and assaults the paperboy as she is making her rounds on her bike, but June thinks that Beaver was attacked by that paperboy "bully" and calls the paper to complain about the incident. However, by the end of the episode, Beaver and the papergirl have made up and are off to the beach together on a date.

Wally's girlfriend can't go out with him because she has to babysit her little sister, Susan, so she suggests taking their respective younger siblings with them. The two younger siblings initially agree to this, but at the last minute agree that they aren't truly ready to go through with it. The two older siblings accept it, and Wally settles for simply helping babysit.

Wally and Eddie get into trouble when Ward gets them a weekend job at the Mayfield Dairy, and they tell management that they saw other employees stealing large boxes of ice cream from the company warehouse.

Beaver thinks he's being treated unfairly when his parents punish him for staying out too late, so Eddie convinces him to write to an advice columnist. However, the columnist sides with Beaver's parents, and all the parents of Beaver's friends start enforcing the same rules.

Eddie brags to his friends about his new bachelor pad and great social life, when in fact his rented room is drab and lonely, and he eats out of tin cans.

To teach Beaver the business of budgeting, Ward gives him an allowance to join a record club and receive monthly musical recordings.

When Ward and June go away for the weekend, Ward reluctantly gives Wally permission to borrow his new car to drive to a dance. Wally breaks the headlight afterward, trying to push Lumpy's stalled car.

Shirley makes fun of Beaver's hair, saying he looks like a sheepdog.

Beaver lets fame go to his head when the local newspaper mentions him scoring the winning touchdown in his school's football game. He goes as far as cutting practice, feeling he's too good to have to go; but he learns his lesson when the coach suspends him from the team for ditching.

Beaver finds it difficult to write his autobiography for school, so he gets his crush Betsy to do it for him, and she greatly exaggerates, to his embarrassment.

Wally talks Ward and June into letting him have a party but doesn't invite Beaver. Beaver follows bad advice from Gilbert, who suggests Beaver retaliate by setting up a series of pranks to sabotage the party. Ward and June convince Wally to extend an invitation to Beaver, suggesting he'll only hang around long enough for a bite to eat, anyway. Wally does invite Beaver, who tries unsuccessfully to undo the pranks without getting caught. Initially the guests blame Wally for the pranks, but Beaver confesses. Although Wally is initially angered, he and Beaver make up at the end of the program.

When Julie Foster starts dating a new student with a moustache, Eddie suggests that she thinks Wally's immature. Wally desperately tries to compete.

Ward helps Wally pay the insurance on a used car, but Ward's offer has several strings attached that lead to complications.

Wally and Eddie are hired to park cars at a fancy social event. There is no designated parking area and the two boy have to park the cars all over town on the street. Eddie parks one of the last cars in front of a building with a no-parking, will-tow sign he doesn't see. When Eddie goes back to retrieve the car and finds it has been towed, his solution to the problem is to dump it in Wally's lap and go home. Everyone is upset, Wally takes the blame and declines payment for his work, and all ends well in the town of Mayfield.

Beaver wins a locket at a carnival, and gives it to his classmate Donna, but her father mails it back to Beaver, leading June to think Donna gave it to him. Eventually things are cleared up, and Beaver gives the locket to his mother.

Beaver allows a hobo named Mr. Jeff into the Cleaver home so he can take a bath and eat a decent meal. The man steals Ward's suit from the closet.

When Wally's car breaks down, Eddie uses his dad's credit card to get it repaired, then Wally gives Eddie cash for the bill, but Eddie spends it on himself, leading his father to think that Wally didn't repay. Eddie eventually comes clean, and he loses the credit card privileges.

Beaver gets a job as a caddy and faces a dilemma when he sees a golfer cheating to win a $500 bet.

Friends and family gather to watch Beaver on a teen TV show, but are disappointed when he doesn't appear. As it turns out, he had taken a quick bathroom run while at the studio, and missed an announcement that the show was being taped in advance and would not air until the following week.

Wally is attracted to the ticket taker at the local movie theater, so Eddie encourages him to ask her out. Beaver, however, discovers that she's probably not Wally's type. She is a school dropout who smokes, drinks, and meets men at taverns.

Although Wally is disappointed he didn't getting the college scholarship he wanted, he throws a party for Lumpy, who got it instead. However, Lumpy ends up losing the scholarship because of a poor grade, much to the chagrin of his father. Ward feels sympathy for Lumpy and secretly convinces the college to reinstate the scholarship, provided Lumpy improves his grade.

Beaver ignores his mother for making him run an errand instead of letting him join Wally and Eddie, and so in retaliation he pays more attention to his father.

Uncle Billy is in charge for the weekend, while Ward and June go on a trip. Since he's more relaxed than them, Beaver takes advantage of him, by sneaking Gilbert into the theater at the movies. However, when Uncle Billy finds out, Beaver learns the hard way that there are some things even his fun-loving uncle won't tolerate, and being taken advantage of is one of them. In the end, the two make up, and Uncle Billy doesn't tell either June or Ward about it.

Aunt Martha plans to enroll Beaver in a private boarding school in New England, but he has second thoughts at the prospect of leaving all his friends.

Wally decides to go to his father's alma mater, State College, and he and Eddie wish to join their top fraternity, Alpha Kappa, so Ward writes a letter of recommendation for both of them. However, a college student tells them that the Alpha Kappa fraternity is terrible, making Eddie want to back out. It later turns out that the fraternity is outstanding and the student who had been denouncing it had been kicked out for breaking the rules.

Eddie's girlfriend uses Wally as a model for knitting Eddie a sweater, and she and Wally spend so much time together, that their friends get suspicious.

Beaver procrastinates with his book report on The Three Musketeers, leaving it until the weekend before it's due. Despite his efforts to read the book, Beaver makes little progress, as it is long and difficult, and he finds himself instead watching a Three Musketeers musical farce on TV, and presents the humorous details of it in his report. However, Mrs. Rayburn isn't fooled and lectures Beaver on how his false report was far worse than just admitting the book was too much for him. She also assigns him two additional book reports to complete to teach him a lesson.

Ward receives two tickets to a baseball game and must choose one of his sons to take with him. He chooses Wally because Beaver already has other plans for the night, but then Beaver's plans fall through. Beaver eventually manipulates Wally into surrendering his ticket, but when Beaver goes with his dad, he can't enjoy the game because of the guilt he feels about doing so.

Beaver accepts an invitation from Peggy to the graduation dance, then receives one from Melinda, a charming new southern girl he actually wants to go with, which he also accepts. In his delay to clear things up, both girls find out, and reject him, leaving him with no date for the dance.

Eddie's uncle gets him a summer job on a fishing boat in Alaska and Eddie talks about it so much, it makes Wally and Lumpy want to join him.

In the last week before junior high school graduation, Beaver sneaks a peek at the diplomas but is worried when he doesn't see his.

After Lumpy puts cherry bombs in their cars, Eddie and Wally retaliate, but it goes a bit too far, when they tie the rear end of Lumpy's car to a tree in the dark, and the body falls off when Lumpy starts to drive off.

Ward and June are reluctant to let Wally go to an all-night party and so are his date's parents.

Beaver is excited about traveling across America on busses for the summer - until he learns that Gilbert, during his absence, intends to make a move on a girl Beaver likes.

Beaver is given the "Good Citizen" award after he takes three of Ward's suits to the clothing drive at his school by accident.

June finds a dusty scrapbook while cleaning, so the Cleavers gather to look through it and remember all they've been through.
