Lewis County General Hospital

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lewis County General Hospital[1][2] is a 54-bed[3] medical facility in upstate New York serving its eponymous county both for medical service and as its largest employer.[4] They were one of 80 locations for a statewide drug-takeback program.[5]

History[]

The hospital was founded in 1931,[4] and has periodically expanded.[6][7] In 2014 they joined the hospital network formed by St. Joseph's Hospital.[8][3]

Despite the Lowville-located hospital's 2019 announced name change to Lewis County Health System[4] a local newspaper noted that a year later the sign in front was still unchanged.[9]

Controversy[]

An interim CEO was appointed[10] following her predecessor being placed on paid administrative leave in 2016.[11] The Watertown Daily Times had described the prior CEO's status with the words uncertain and unclear.[12] This came 3 months after a hospital physician was jailed.[13]
