Lincoln is a suburb in west Auckland, New Zealand. It is also the filming location of Shortland Street.[citation needed]

The suburb is sometimes called Lincoln North or treated as part of Henderson North to avoid confusion with Lincoln in Canterbury.

Lincoln, comprising the statistical areas of Henderson Larnoch, Henderson Lincoln West, Henderson Lincoln East and Henderson Lincoln South, had a population of 10,089 at the 2018 New Zealand census, an increase of 717 people (7.7%) since the 2013 census, and an increase of 1,338 people (15.3%) since the 2006 census. There were 2,883 households. There were 5,040 males and 5,049 females, giving a sex ratio of 1.0 males per female, with 2,352 people (23.3%) aged under 15 years, 2,280 (22.6%) aged 15 to 29, 4,482 (44.4%) aged 30 to 64, and 981 (9.7%) aged 65 or older.

Ethnicities were 35.9% European/Pākehā, 18.6% Māori, 24.5% Pacific peoples, 34.5% Asian, and 4.0% other ethnicities (totals add to more than 100% since people could identify with multiple ethnicities).

The proportion of people born overseas was 43.4%, compared with 27.1% nationally.

Although some people objected to giving their religion, 35.3% had no religion, 44.9% were Christian, and 14.4% had other religions.

Of those at least 15 years old, 1,536 (19.9%) people had a bachelor or higher degree, and 1,515 (19.6%) people had no formal qualifications. The employment status of those at least 15 was that 3,843 (49.7%) people were employed full-time, 936 (12.1%) were part-time, and 474 (6.1%) were unemployed.[1]

Main Roads[]

The Northwestern Motorway passes through the northern part of the suburb, with the "Lincoln Road" junction providing access.[2]

Lincoln Road runs through the suburb and is the main road for the suburb with Universal Drive and Central Park Drive the main support routes in and out of the suburbs.

Main centres[]

Lincoln North mall is a small shopping centre on the corner of Lincoln Road and Universal Drive, and across Universal Drive are a Pak'n Save supermarket and Mitre 10 megastore.

Schools[]

Pomaria Road School is a contributing primary (years 1-6) school with a roll of 495 students.[3] The school opened about 1960. It has operated a Kohanga Reo (Māori language immersion kindergarten) since 1992.[4]

ACG Sunderland School and College is a private school with a roll of 555 students.[5] They opened at the beginning of 2007.[6]

Both schools are coeducational. Rolls are as of November 2021.[7]

Henderson High School, Liston College and St Dominic's College are in Henderson North to the south of Lincoln.
