List of FIA events
This article needs additional citations for verification. (June 2021) |
These are the motor racing events administered and regulated by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the international governing body of motorsport. The FIA runs these events, determines the regulations and awards the championships or trophies to the competitors, while working with other promoters and event organisers who arrange the commercial affairs of the event. Other motor racing series are not directly controlled by the FIA, although the Federation is the ultimate regulator for most international motorsport, and provides the regulations for many other series. The FIA's top motor racing events, known as World Championships, are positioned as the most prestigious titles within their respective fields, with Formula One considered to be the pinnacle of world motor racing. Six events are sanctioned as World Championships: FIA Formula One World Championship, FIA World Rally Championship, FIA World Rallycross Championship, FIA World Endurance Championship, FIA Karting World Championship, and FIA Formula E World Championship. A sixth event, the FIA World Touring Car Championship was discontinued at the end of 2017 and replaced by the FIA World Touring Car Cup, which has World Cup status.
