Jean-Pierre Papin is a French former professional footballer , who played for the French national team between 1986 and 1995. He made his first international appearance in February 1986, during a friendly against Northern Ireland .
He scored his 30th goal on 13 December 1994, during a 2-0 win against Azerbaijan in Euro 1996 Qualifying . This made him the joint-2nd top goalscorer for France, alongside Just Fontaine . He would be surpassed by Thierry Henry on 9 November 2005, nearly 11 years after his last international goal.
