Road–rail tunnels are tunnels shared by road and rail lines, as an economy measure compared to constructing segregated tunnels. Road and rail may be provided with separate tubes.

  • Sanyang Road Yangtze River Tunnel of Wuhan Metro, the first road-rail tunnel built by a tunnel boring machine.[1]
  • Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel, part of G40 and G228, also reserved a tunnel for Shanghai Metro.
