List of universities with BDSM clubs

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Universities with BDSM clubs are a modern phenomenon, especially in the USA.[1][2] Some of these student clubs dedicated to BDSM (along with sexual fetishism and kink) are officially recognized and funded by their university or college administration. The extent of nudity and consensual pain allowed in each BDSM club varies, as per the university.[3][4]

Safe rope bondage is generally an activity taught in BDSM clubs of universities. This representational image shows a male bondage rigger performing bondage on a female volunteer.

The following is a list of universities that have student clubs providing BDSM education:

In terms of the number of universities having BDSM clubs, USA is far ahead of other countries. Additionally, there are many American universities that do not have a dedicated BDSM club but conduct awareness activities on BDSM for students, for example the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.[45][46][47]

Some American universities, such as Texas Tech University,[48] Indiana University[49] and Michigan State University, have professors who conduct research and take curriculum classes on BDSM.[50][51][52][53][54]

A few U.S. university presses, such as those of Duke University, Indiana University and University of Chicago, have also published books on BDSM written by professors.[55]
