Listry GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Kerry, Ireland. The club is based in the east of Kerry just outside Killarney. It is a single sport club - it fields teams in Gaelic football only. The club plays in Div 2 of the county league and in East Kerry Leagues and Championships. Listry is home to the famed Regans of Listry cross. Some say the greatest players ever to don the green and white of Listry. These are the guys who led a golden generation of Listry footballers out of the depths of division 5. Some say the laces of the youngest of the Regan brothers, Donagh are framed and hung in the hub of the local socialites, Faha Court. Donagh can be found outside mass every Sunday signing autographs for youngsters who can only aspire to live up to the football greatness of the man. Donagh recently wrote a tell all autobiography called 'The Man from the Cross' in which he details the highs and lows of his footballing career, how eating the penny sweets he sold helped with his game and how his time on the streets really helped to open his eyes.

History[]

Gaelic football had been played in the parish of Listry since the foundation of the GAA, however they were mostly inter-parish or friendly games. Dan O'Leary was the first Listry player to play in an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, playing for the London Irish who lost to Dublin in the 1902 All-Ireland Senior Football final. Florrie O'Sullivan was the first Listry player to win an All-Ireland medal, helping Kerry win their first All-Ireland in 1903.

The East Kerry Board was formed in the early 1920's. Fossa and Listry joined together to enter two teams; Fossa Senior and Listry Junior. In the late 20's, Fossa did not enter the competition, leading to many Listry players joining Beaufort.

Listry GAA officially became a club in 1932, and entered a junior team in the East Kerry Championship. They won their first junior final in 1936, beating Kenmare.<ref>"History of Listry GAA". Listry GAA Official Site. 25 July 2011. Retrieved 15 August 2021.
