Logan Costa (born 1 April 2001) is a French professional footballer who plays for Toulouse FC.[1]

Early life[]

Logan Costa was born in Saint-Denis, Île-de-France,[2][3] in a family of Cape Verdean descent.[4][5]

Club career[]

Having started to play football in Argenteuil, Val-d'Oise, Logan Costa joined Stade de Reims Youth Sector in 2016.[6][7]

Having been playing with Reims' reserve in National 2 since 2018–19, Costa captained the side during the following season.[5][6][8][9] With a few appearances in the pro squad for the Ligue 1 games,[10] he was loaned to third division side of Le Mans for the 2020–21 season.[2][8]

With the team from Le Mans that had just been relegated from Ligue 2, he was one of the standout players, and a revelation of that Championnat National, starting and playing the entirety of 26 games, as the Sarthois only narrowly missed the promotion play-offs.[2][3][4][11][12]

After this promising loan spell, Costa was offered a contract extension by Reims, but chose to look elsewhere in search of more game time.[3][4] With one year left on his contract, several clubs from France, Italy and Germany professional leagues where interested by the young center-back,[2][3][12] but he was eventually transferred to the Toulouse FC on August 2021.[2][11][13][14]

Costa made his professional debut for Toulouse on the 13 November 2021, starting as a central defender and playing every minutes of a penalty shoot-out away Coupe de France win against FC Libourne, in which he helped his team keeping a clean sheet, with a 0–0 score after extra-time.[15][16][17]

Starting the season behind Nicolaisen, Diakité and Rouault, with a team playing for the promotion,[18][19] Costas first only made bench appearances in Ligue 2.[20] But he established himself as a regular starter in the Coupe de France, even scoring his first goal against Trélissac FC.[20][21][22]

International career[]

An international with France under-16s and under-17s,[8][12][13] Costa was also selected for the French under-19s and under-20s, without playing any official games in a period where most of them where canceled due to covid.[5][6][11][14]

On 16 March 2022, he received his first international call-up for the Cape Verde national team.[23][24]
