Louis Charles Baillon (born 5 August 1881 in Stanley,[1] Falkland Islands — died 9 September 1965 in Brixworth, Northamptonshire).[2] His father, Louis Augustine Baillon, had emigrated to the Falkland Islands in the mid-1800s. He returned to England in 1888 with his family, including the young Louis. As he grew, Louis Charles Baillon became a good all-round sportsman. As a field hockey player he won a gold medal with the England team at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London.[1][3]
