Luni is a town in Luni tehsil in Jodhpur district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 35 km South from Jodhpur district headquarters, Luni is a tehsil headquarters.
Geography[]
Luni is located in Central Rajasthan on the banks of the Luni River. Luni is near the villages of Shikarpura, Satlana, French, and Barliya. The nearest city, the District capital of Jodhpur, is 35 km (22 mi) away.
The artisans inhabiting the village pursue their ancestral profession of fashioning metal, clay or wood into intricate forms.

Climate[]
During the summer, the temperature can go as high as 44 °C (111 °F). In the winter, it can range from 15 degrees to 25 degrees. Nights are cool and days are hot and humid.
Fort Chanwa[]
Fort Chanwa is a red sandstone fort, It was built around 1895 by kaviraja Murari dan Ashiya of Bhandiyawas who received luni as jagir during the rule of maharaja Jaswant singh II of marwar.[1] The red sandstone comes from Jodhpur. Later the fort became a heritage hotel.[2] Its main features are manicured gardens, carved lattice work friezes and Jharokas (or balconies).[3]
Shikarpura[]
Anjana Samaj is also known as Choudhary, Patel, Kalabi or Patidar Samaj. People of this society are mainly located at Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan (in Marwar and Mewar region). Members of Anjana society follow Sanatan (Hindu) Dharam. The main professions of Anajanas are agriculture and animal husbandry. Society has produced great saints in different part of country at different times. In eighteenth century great saint Shri Raja Ram Ji born in Anjana society. He tried to create awareness in society against injustice (by Thakurs and Rajas) and social taboos. He also stressed about importance of education in society. There are many temples and Maths built by different saints in different regions. In Rajasthan Saint Raja Ram Ji established a Math (Ashram) in Shikarapura near Luni, Jodhpur. This ashram is famous as Shikarpura Ashram.[4]
