Macbeth is a 1982[1] Hungarian television film directed by Béla Tarr.[2] György Cserhalmi plays Macbeth while Erzsébet Kútvölgyi plays Lady Macbeth.[2] The film is composed of only two shots: The first shot (before the main title) is five minutes long, the second 57 minutes long.[3] It is considered to be a watershed in the filmmaker's artistic development.[3] The film was among the examples of the director's work screened at the Museum of Modern Art during a retrospective in October 2001.[4] The film has been screened during a retrospective held in honor of director Béla Tarr at the 33rd Moscow International Film Festival.[5]
