Maetel Legend (メーテルレジェンド, Mēteru Rejendo) is a 2000 anime OVA based on characters created by Leiji Matsumoto about how the planet La Maetelle becomes the planet Andromeda, also known as Planet Maetel ("the mechanized world"). It serves a link between Matsumoto's previous series Queen Millennia and Galaxy Express 999. The OVA and series are supposed to follow Queen Millennia chronologically, and are prequels to Galaxy Express 999.

The storyline begins to an abundant planet, La Metalle, the king and the queen were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, and throughout the land they present their newborn daughter, Maetel, (Mēteru) to the gathering humans by Vanisher, the kingdom's advisor
King Iris Phyrontes shows a young Maetel the kingdom of planet La Metalle and explains to her the responsibilities of queenship and the "fantasy", which connets all living things. Her grandfather, Fergus, he asks her to the queen of planet La Metalle. Suddenly, a Black Hole cames to destroys the planet, La Metalle, Fergus warns King Iris Phyrontes the black hole is here! He saves his young daughter, Queen La Andromeda sends her in a spaceship to Earth. The spaceship blast off, and the planet, La Metalle is destroyed and sucked by the Black Hole.
The ship lands near the glass, Maetel comes out the ship, and she said. Where am I?. 10 Years Later, she growns up and looking for someone. Then she found a train station and she goes in the station, an abandoned station, it's is old, empty, with nobody. Suddenly, a steam locomotive train appears. The steam locomotive train stops, and in the steam train appears a mysterious alien called. The Conductor, who meets her. Maetel puts a black outfit, and she becomes a mysterious tragic woman.
