Mahesh Kumar Malani (Urdu: مہیش کمار ملانی) is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018. He is the first non-Muslim to win a general seat (non reserved seat) in the National Assembly of Pakistan.[2]

Political career[]

He had served as the chairperson of the Sindh Assembly's Standing Committee on Food. Then he became a member of parliament from 2008 to 2013 on a reserved seat, nominated by the PPP.[2] He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from the constituency PS-61 (Mithi) as a candidate of PPP in 2013 Pakistani general election. He was also elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from the constituency NA-222 (Tharparkar-II) as a candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the 2018 Pakistani general election.[3] As such he became the first Pakistani Hindu to be an elected member of the National Assembly from Tharparkar.[4]
