The Mahindra University École Centrale School of Engineering formerly known as Mahindra École Centrale is a faculty of newly established Mahindra University[1] located in Bahadurpally, near Hyderabad, Telangana. It came into being after the upgrade of Mahindra École Centrale (established in 2013) and establishment of Mahindra University by Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Amendment) Ordinance of 2020.[2]

History[]

Engineering college[]

Mahindra École Centrale[3] was founded in 2014 with the collaboration of Tech Mahindra, CentraleSupélec and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.[4]

The signing of the final agreement, creating[5] the new higher education institution in the fields of science and research, took place in June 2014.

University[]

By Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Amendment) Ordinance of 2020, it was upgraded into a university in 2020.

Campus[]

The university is located on the Tech Mahindra campus, near Bahadurpally, Hyderabad. The campus has spacious seminar halls, lecture halls/theaters and tutorial rooms and recreational facilities such as cafeterias, dormitories and sport facilities.

Director and Vice-chancellor[]

Dr. Yajulu Medury is an acclaimed academician and a seasoned professional with more than three decades of academic and administrative experience.

Before joining MEC, Dr. Medury served as the Vice Chancellor of Bennett University at Greater Noida, U.P. While in Bennett University, Dr. Medury developed academic partnerships with Georgia Tech for Engineering, Johnson Business Cornell University for Management, Cornell Law School for Law, Babson College USA for Entrepreneurship and others.

In addition, between 2001 and 2003, Dr. Medury successfully established 3 Universities (2 State and 1 Deemed). Prior to that Dr. Medury was the Vice Chancellor of Jaypee University of IT, Himachal Pradesh and Founding Vice Chancellor of VIT University, Vellore. Immediately before that he was the Chairman & Managing Director of Educational Consultants of India Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking of the Government of India. He has proficiently held many senior positions in varied Companies/Institutes besides being Member of several Academic Committees/Governing Councils throughout his distinguished career.

His contributions to the field of academics have been widely acknowledged. He has more than 40 publications to his credit which have been extensively circulated in national and international journals and conferences.

Dr. Medury has a B.Tech Honours degree from IIT, Kharagpur and did his MS as well as Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA.

Academic program[]

An inter-disciplinary curriculum was designed to develop students with the unique ability to adapt to global engineering challenges and new technologies that would shape the future; and create professionals with the ability to master the complexity of multinational organizations. Mahindra École Centrale offers a 4-year integrated program in Engineering.[6]

The Mahindra École Centrale vision[7] is to train engineers, both men and women, to be entrepreneurial and innovative as well as technically trained, so that they are capable of meeting the greatest challenges of their era.

Mahindra École Centrale is home to national and international faculty who work at the frontiers of academic inquiry and follow the developments of the real world in order to educate students to become experts in their disciplines.

Admission[]

Admission to Mahindra Ecole Centrale's B.Tech program is based on either SAT Subject Tests in Mathematics (IIC), Chemistry and Physics or JEE Main scores.[8]

Curriculum[]

The students at MEC are being educated in Engineering Sciences, Social Sciences, Creative Sciences, Business, Economics, Management, Arts and Humanities. The French language is also part of the curriculum.

MEC offers four streams to all aspiring engineers, namely:

  • Mechanical Engineering (ME),
  • Computer Science Engineering (CSE),
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE),
  • Civil Engineering (CE).

The institution is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and JNTUH. The degree would be provided by JNTUH to the students enrolled till academic year 2019-20. Students enrolled in academic year 2020-21 and onwards will be awarded by a degree of Mahindra University.
