Major 2nd (stylized as MAJOR 2nd) is a Japanese sports manga series written and illustrated by Takuya Mitsuda. It is a sequel to the original manga series Major. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday since March 2015. An anime television series adaptation aired on NHK Educational TV from April to September 2018. A second season aired from April to November 2020.

Major 2nd is written and illustrated by Takuya Mitsuda. The series began in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday on March 11, 2015.[7][8] In November 2018, the series was put on hiatus,[9] and resumed its publication on April 24, 2019.[10] Shogakukan has collected its chapters into individual tankōbon volumes. The first volume was released on June 12, 2015.[11] As of June 17, 2021, twenty-three volumes have been released.[12]

Anime[]

An anime adaptation of Major 2nd was announced in the 47th issue of Weekly Shōnen Sunday in October 2017.[13] It aired from April 7 to September 22, 2018 on NHK Educational TV.[14] A second season aired from April 4 to November 7, 2020.[15] The main cast and staff are reprising their roles for the second season.[5] On April 25, 2020, it was announced that new episodes of second season would be delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.[16] On May 23, 2020, it was announced that the series would resume with its 5th episode of the second season on May 30.[17] On June 14, 2020, it was announced that it will be on hiatus again due to the same circumstances. Episode 8 aired on July 11, 2020.[18]

Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles.[19]

Reception[]

On April 4, 2018, it was announced that the Major 2nd manga had 5.6 million copies in print, for the first 13 volumes.[20]
