Makari ( from the Greek word Μακάρι, which expresses wishfulness ) is a five-piece ambient-rock outfit based out of Orlando. Their latest release “Continuum”, an independently released EP produced by Andrew Wade, finds the band further refining their sound, and offers a glimpse into what the band has been doing since their debut LP “Hyperreal”. With dreamy and delicate guitar work, driving drums and bass, impassioned and lyric-driven vocals, Makari allows you to drift on a sonic-sea of delay and reverb just long enough before dropping you back into straightforward, high-energy grooves.

History[]

In 2011 Makari was born with guitarists Matt Beljan and Eric Stewart, bass guitarist John Tomasso, drummer Kevin Beljan, ex-vocalist Brandon Cullen, and ex-keyboardist Lindsey England

With this lineup, Makari independently released Ghost Stories EP in 2015.[1]

With Makari deciding to buckle down and make music a career in 2016, they opted to remove keys and to fill vocals with Spencer Pearson (ex-Decoder, ex-VersaEmerge),[2] the band was then signed with InVogue Records and released Elegies EP in 2016.[3]

In 2017, Andy Cizek of WVNDER and Monuments replaced Pearson on vocals due to artistic differences. In 2018, as Makari began growing they started touring extensively. With Cizek, Makari released their debut full-length album Hyperreal produced by Andrew Wade[4]

In 2020, Makari released an acoustic Alternate EP featuring the songs from Hyperreal via InVogue Records. Makari decided to break ties with InVogue records shortly after this release and went independent. Later in 2020, Makari released Continuum EP.[5] Currently, Makari has started touring again after a year long hiatus due to COVID-19. Makari continues to work with Andrew Wade on new jams to bless us with.
