Malamaddi is a residential area in Dharwad city, Karnataka, India, located near the Dharwad city railway station. The area is mainly inhabited by educated middle-class people. The locality was developed for independent houses (bungalows) with a courtyard and kitchen garden. This type of layout led to friendship among dwellers and harmony, where people used to know not only neighbours, but the entire locality. Many government officers reside in this locality including Deputy Government Officer, V.R Pandurangi.

MaLa ( ಮಾಳ ) in Kannada means "place above normal level" (ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಬಯಲು ಪ್ರದೇಶ ) and maddi (ಮಡ್ಡಿ) in Kannada means "a hillock" ( ದಿಣ್ಣೆ, ದಿಬ್ಬ, ಗುಡ್ಡ ), a small hill. The two words together refer to the location of Malamaddi on a small hill above the normal elevations in Dharwad. Religious institutions such as Rayara Mutt and Uttaradi Mutt are located in this area. One of the famous schools of Dharwad, KE Boards School is also located in this area.

In the evening, one can find many vendors on the streets selling vegetables, fruits, food items and items required for any upcoming festivals. In the morning, the streets are scented because of the vendors selling flowers in this area. Public transport such as Bus, Rickshaw are the major means of transport in this area.
