Manila Xiamen International School (simplified Chinese: 厦门岷厦国际学校; traditional Chinese: 廈門岷廈國際學校; pinyin: xià mén mín shà guó jì xué xiào) or MXIS, is a private international school in Xiamen City. It is an independent, foreign-owned international school licensed by the IB organization, offering education from Pre-School to Grade 12.

History[]

MXIS was established in 1993 by its co-founders Engr. Roman T. Go and Dr. Mildred A. Go. It was the first international school in Xiamen. It is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme since 2006 and the IB Middle Years Programme since January 2021.

MXIS is situated in a nearly 10,000-square-meter property.

Curricular Offerings[]

As an IB World School, MXIS aligns with the IB organization’s teaching Methodology.


PRE-SCHOOL (Nursery, Kindergarten and Preparatory)

The program provides standard kindergarten education program.


LOWER SCHOOL (Grades 1 to 5)

MXIS provides basic elementary education program.


MIDDLE SCHOOL AND THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME (Grades 6 to 10)

MXIS offers IB organization’s MYP program.


UPPER SCHOOL AND THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (Grades 11 to 12)

At MXIS, students can choose to work towards the MXIS high school diploma, the high school diploma with IB Certificates (an IB Certificate is awarded per subject for the successful completion of an IB Course) or the high school diploma plus the IB Diploma.


ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) PROGRAM

MXIS’ ESL Program develops academic English language proficiency. Extensive lessons for students seven to 16 years old encompass reading, writing, listening, speaking and interpreting.

MXIS has a team of Chinese and Filipino teachers. All the Filipino teachers graduated from Philippine universities.
