Mastermind is an audio drama based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. This audio drama was produced by Big Finish Productions.

Plot[]

The Vault – an archive of alien artefacts securely stored deep beneath the Angel of the North.
There's also a prisoner in the Vault. An extraterrestrial known as the Master. He has been on Earth for some time, but now he's under lock and key.
This is his story.
Or, as Captain Ruth Matheson and Warrant Officer Charlie Sato discover… perhaps it is theirs.

Continuity[]

• Geoffrey Beevers played the Master, alongside Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, in the 1981 television story The Keeper of Traken.
• Beevers previously reprised the role of the Master in two Big Finish audios, Dust Breeding and Master, both with the Seventh Doctor. In those dramas, the Master had reverted to his former deteriorated state, after losing the form he gained at the end of The Keeper of Traken. In 2012, Beevers again reprised the role of the Master in the audio adventures Trail of the White Worm and The Oseidon Adventure in which he faced the Fourth Doctor, both adventures set before his TV debut in The Keeper of Traken.
• This story explains what happened to the Master after the TV Movie in which he battled the Eighth Doctor.
