The Mazzanti Evantra is a high performance crafted car made by Italian company Mazzanti Automobili that had its World premiere at the Top Marques Show Monaco in 2013. Evantra is produced on commission, in a maximum of five units per year.

Context[]

In 2011 Luca Mazzanti, after a three years work, supported from the designer Zsolt Tarnok,[1] presented the project "Evantra",[2] a mid-engine coupé designed to be produced in a very limited number and highly customizable. During 2012 Mazzanti realized models in scale 1:1 and began the construction of the very first unit. The final test of Evantra happened in circuit at Autodromo di Modena.[3][4] and in 2013 Mazzanti Evantra was presented in a World premiere during the Top Marques Monaco Show also getting international exposure through the press at the show, so much that the company was contacted by many of the largest international car magazines.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] In 2014, Sony Entertainment shown his interest in the car by asking the permission to get the commercial rights of Evantra for Driveclub, a very popular driving simulation video game. The name Evantra, as tradition of Mazzanti Automobili, derives from the Etruscan language and it combines the concepts of unity and eternity: Evantra in fact was the name by which the Etruscans called the goddess of immortality.[13]

Production[]

The car is produced in Pontedera, Tuscany, Italy,[14] in a maximum of five units per year [15]

Project[]

The car is set up as a two-seater coupé, result of research carried out by Luca Mazzanti, patron of Mazzanti Automobili, assisted by Zsolt Tarnok (Mazzanti Automobili chief designer). It is also known as the Evantra 771.

Chassis[]

The boxed steel chassis is joined to a cage of chrome-molybdenum tubes creating the framework inside the vehicle. Another cage connects the engine/gearbox compartment to rear shocks attacks. These solutions contribute significantly to the structural rigidity of the chassis and at the same time guarantee the safety of the occupants.

Bodywork[]

The body is structurally a two-seater coupé. The same body is built in two different types of equipment: pro-body, made in carbon fiber, or one-body, with some parts in hand-wrought aluminum and customizable, obtaining in this case a project dedicated exclusively to a single vehicle, in practice a one-off.

Interiors[]

Interiors, made to measure each time, are aimed at a total customization. The sporty central console, has an instrument panel equipped with a multimedia system and data acquisition trim. The engine start button is placed on the integrated bridge to the pavilion in the Mazzanti style, already used on Antas, the previous car of this company. In the central console there is a specific selector with 2 different programs for the management of the engine/transmission, "Road" and "Race", while the AIM steering wheel has a display with gear and speed indicator.

Engine[]

The engine is a naturally aspirated, 7.0-liter aluminum Chevrolet LS7 V8 engine that produces 701 hp (523 kW; 711 PS) at 6600 rpm and a maximum torque of 848 N⋅m (625 lb⋅ft) at 4500 rpm. The engine has a compression ratio of 11: 1 and is equipped with dry-sump lubrication system, titanium valves and connecting rods.

Features and performances[]

The Evantra V8 is equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, can reach a top speed exceeding 350 km/h (217 mph) and can accelerate from 0–100 km/h (62 mph) in about 3.2 seconds. The aerodynamic development was realized with the support of partners with significant background in F1 and Le Mans. The car is equipped with stock high performance tires 255/30 R20 front and 325/25 R20 rear, mounted on specific 20" OZ Racing wheels, and controlled by a Brembo braking system with carbon-ceramic 380 mm discs and 6-piston calipers at the front and 360 mm discs and 4-piston calipers at the rear.

Variants[]

Evantra 771[]

The Evantra at the 2016 Rome Auto Show

The Evantra 771 was revealed at the 2016 Bologna Motor Show, an evolution of the Evantra.[16] The LS7 used in the base Evantra has been modified to produce an extra 20hp, hence the nomenclature and it retains the mid-engined layout of previous Mazzanti cars. The newly revised engine now produces 771 hp (782 PS; 575 kW) at 7,700 RPM and 642 lb⋅ft (870 N⋅m) at 6,890 RPM.[17] It has a claimed top speed of 209 mph (336 km/h), and a 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) of around 3 seconds.[18][17] Power is sent to the rear lightwieght OZ Racing wheels via a 7-speed sequential, which measure 12 in (30 cm) by 20 in (51 cm) at the rear, 9.5 in (24 cm) by 20 in (51 cm) at the front and are shod with 325/25R20 & 255/30R20 Pirelli P Zeroes respectively.[17] Stopping power is provided by 380 mm (15 in) rotors with 6-piston calipers at the front and 360 mm (14.2 in) rotors with 4-piston calipers at the rear, with carbon-ceramic brakes being optional.[17] MacPherson struts at all four corners are responsible for ride stability.[19] Sales began in the spring of 2017, and like all other Mazzanti models was limited to a production run of 5 per year.[17]

Evantra 781[]

The 781 is an evolution of the 771, replacing the 7.0L LS7 with the same engine found in the Pura, a 6.2L LT2 tuned to 781hp as the name suggests. The engine produces 781 hp (792 PS; 582 kW) at 6,400 RPM and 969 N⋅m (715 lb⋅ft) at 4,400 RPM. The suspension has been altered, replacing the MacPherson struts with fully adjustable double wishbone suspension at both front and rear wheels.[19] Weight has also increased slightly from the 771, from 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) to 1,350 kg (2,976 lb). The 781 retains everything from the 771 apart from the engine & suspension tweaks, and the interior retains its basic layout, however is highly customizable.

Evantra Millecavalli[]

The Evantra Millecavalli

The Evantra Millecavalli was revealed at the 2013 Top Marques Show in Monaco.[20] The 7.0L LS7 found in the 771 has been enlarged to 7.2L, and fitted with a pair of turbochargers, and now produces 1,000 hp (1,014 PS; 746 kW), hence the name, with Mille meaning thousand & cavalli meaning horses.[20] Sending that 1,000 hp and 1,200 N⋅m (885 lb⋅ft) to the rear wheels is a bespoke 6-speed sequential, which gives the car a claimed 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) of 2.7, and an estimated top speed of 250 mph (402 km/h). Again, OZ Racing supplies the wheels which are the same size as the 771 wheels, and are shod with Pirelli Trofeo R tyres, 265/35R19 at the front and 335/30R20 at the rear.[21] Stopping power is provided by 390 mm (15 in) rotors and six-piston calipers at the front, and 360 mm (14 in) rotors and four-piston calipers at the rear, with carbon-ceramic brakes being standard.[22] Mazzanti claims that this can bring the car from 300 km/h (186 mph) to a stop in 7 seconds.[23]

Millecavalli R[]

The LS7 has been further enlarged to 7.3L, now producing 1,121 hp (1,137 PS; 836 kW) at 6,500 RPM and 1,210 N⋅m (892 lb⋅ft) at 6,500 RPM. All measurements of the car also remain the same, however the R has gone under further aerodynamic enhancement for track performance and has gained 80 kg (176 lb), increasing the weight from 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) to 1,380 kg (3,042 lb). The OEM tyres are also now Michelin instead of Pirelli.[24]

Evantra Pura[]

The Evantra Pura was revealed at the 2021 Florence Biennale art festival in Florence.[25] It shares its engine with the 781, that being a supercharged 6.2L LT2 that produces 761 hp (772 PS; 567 kW) at 6,300 RPM and 910 N⋅m (671 lb⋅ft) at 4,300 RPM.[26] The manufacturer claims that the Pura can accelerate from 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 2.9s, with a top speed of over 360 km/h (224 mph).[27] The Pura is considered the entry model within the Evantra series and has more emphasis on lightness and sheer driving pleasure, in fact the car weighs only 1,290 kg (2,844 lb), sitting a chassis of high-tensile steel, and molybdenum chrome which allows for flexibility in the corners.[25][28] The car has MacPherson struts at each corner of the vehicle with fully adjustable suspension as an option.[28] Stopping power is provided by provided by carbon-ceramic Brembos, with 6-piston calipers and 14.9 in (378 mm) rotors at the front, and 4-piston calipers and 14 in (356 mm) rotors at the rear.[25] The car is fitted with OZ Racing wheels, with the fronts measuring 9.5 in (24 cm) by 19 in (48 cm) at the front and 12 in (30 cm) by 20 in (51 cm) at the rear, shod with 255/35R19 and 315/30R20 Michelin rubber respectively.[26][28] Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed sequential paddle-shift gearbox.[25]

Appearances in other media[]

The Mazzanti Evantra and Millecavalli are available to play in the desktop/mobile racing game Asphalt 8: Airborne, and the Millecavalli is also available in Asphalt 9: Legends and CSR Racing 2.[29][30][31]
