Meal deal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A meal deal consists of three key items: a main (often being a sandwich), a drink, and a snack (commonly crisps). Most retailers sell other snacks as well as crisps, such as sausage rolls, pork pies, and fresh fruit. Some shops will also sell pasta salads, sushi, and wraps for mains as well. They generally tend to be served cold in supermarkets, but some cafés such as Costa offer hot options.[1] Meal deals vary in price, with most being around £3, and some costing up to £5.[2]

In recent years, the meal deal has become a staple in British culture, with them typically being associated with convenience and value for money.[citation needed]

Pharmacy Boots started the meal deal, but Tesco has popularised it in recent years.[citation needed]
