The Megalichthyidae are a family of prehistoric lobe-finned fishes which lived from the late Devonian to the early Permian period.[2]

Phylogeny[]

Below is a cladogram from Swartz, 2012:[3] An updated phylogeny of the 'megalichthyids' is given in Clement et al. 2021 which shows the group to be monophyletic and contain seven genera (Askerichthys, Mahalalepis, Sengoerichthys, Cladarosymblema, Megalichthys, Ectosteorhachis, and Palatinichthys).
