Melanie del Pilar Serrano Pérez[3] (born 12 October 1989) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a left back for Primera División club Barcelona.

Serrano has spent her entire professional career with Barcelona and is the club leader in appearances with 500. Unofficially, she has played more than 500 matches. However, there is no record of the matches played in the second division in 2007–08.

Club career[]

Serrano has spent her entire professional career with Barcelona.[4]

She became a first-team player in 2004, at the age of 15.[5] As the women's division of the youth academy wasn't established yet, she went directly to the reserve team after transferring from Andalusian club Dos Hermanas.

On 18 December 2021, she scored her 30th goal for Barcelona as she scored the second goal in a 4–0 victory against Rayo Vallecano. On 22 December, she played in her 500th official match for the club in a 7–0 thrashing of Madrid CFF.[6]

International career[]

Her full international debut at the senior level was on 29 October 2009 against Austria[7] (at 20 years and 17 days). Melanie was part of Spain's squad at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.[1]

Personal life[]

Serrano is in a relationship with Lara Salmerón. In September 2021, the couple announced that they are expecting twins.[8]
