Metin Hakverdi (born 25 June 1969) is a German lawyer and politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Hamburg since 2013.[1]

Career in state politics[]

In the 2008 state elections, Hakverdi became a member of the State Parliament of Hamburg. During his time in parliament, he served on the Budget Committee, among others.

Member of the German Parliament, 2013–present[]

Hakverdi became member of the Bundestag in the 2013 German federal election.[2] He is a member of the Finance Committee and the Committee on European Union Affairs.[3][4]

In addition to his committee assignments, Hakverdi is part of the German-American Parliamentary Friendship Group and the German-Israeli Parliamentary Friendship Group. Within his parliamentary group, he has been chairing a working group on relations with North America since 2018.[5]

Personal life[]

Hakverdi is of ethnic Turkish origin.[6]
