Miami Fashion Week (MIAFW) is an annual fashion week held in Miami, Florida, United States. Miami Fashion Week, not to be confused with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami or , takes place every year during the spring and is held in the Wynwood Arts District. Miami Fashion Week was started in 1998 and is the world's largest fashion week for Latin American and the Caribbean fashion designers. Today, Miami Fashion Week is in collaboration with Miami Fashion Institute at Miami Dade College.[1]

The influence of Miami Fashion Week reaches beyond their resort wear specialty. As the longest-running fashion week in the region, Miami Fashion Week turns out a staggering number of designs in the evening wear, menswear, and intimate wear departments, while still focusing on resort wear style due to the city's close proximity to the ocean and being a travel destination to many international visitors. The event also takes on legal issues such as eco-fashion, sustainability, innovation, and production and brings them to the forefront of their audience's attention.[2]

Relaunch[]

In May 2015 the company was acquired by The Fashion Shows, LLC. After CEO Julio Iranzo developed an aggressive and innovative strategic relaunching plan, The Fashion Shows, LLC relaunched Miami Fashion Week in 2016 as the second largest fashion event in the United States.[1] The brand then welcomed Antonio Banderas as its Honorary President in order to heighten the event in the top international fashion circuit.

Following the relaunch of Miami Fashion Week, the brand had a clear focus on debuting resort collections of established and emerging international designers.[3] Even with the focus on international designers, Miami Fashion Week has been dedicated to cultivating the fashion industry in Miami. Miami's diverse connection between Latin America and the United States encourages the development of Miami's ever-growing artists and designers.[4]

2019 Fashion Week[]

The 2019 Miami Fashion Week was held May 29th through June 2nd. Events took place all around Miami including the EPIC Hotel, Saks Fifth Avenue Brickell, Chotto Matte restaurant, and Seaspice restaurant. Premium sponsors of MIAFW 2019 included PORCELANOSA, builders of this year's runway, Lexus, and EPIC Hotel, the official hotel partner for MIAFW 2019. Other sponsors included Univisión, E! Entertainment, Miami International Airport, and Bo Concept.[1]
