Michael John Conrad (born July 29, 1933) is a retired United States Army major general who served as Commanding General, 1st Cavalry Division from 1984 to 1986.[2] He graduated from the United States Military Academy with a B.S. degree in military science in 1956.[3][4] Conrad later earned an M.S. degree in mathematics from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1965.[1][4]
Conrad served as a battalion commander in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 and was awarded two Silver Star Medals, the Distinguished Flying Cross,[5] two Bronze Star Medals, seventeen Air Medals and two Purple Hearts.[1] He has also received the Distinguished Service Medal, two awards of the Legion of Merit[5] and an Army Commendation Medal.[1]
