Michaela Goade is an American illustrator. She won the 2021 Caldecott Medal for her illustrations in the book We Are Water Protectors written by Carole Lindstrom.[1][2] She is the first Native American to win the award.[2][3] She is of the Tlingit and Haida tribes.[4]
The book also won the Jane Addams Children's Book Award in the category Book for Younger Children.[5]
