Miliama Simeona (died 27 September 2020[1]) was a gynaecologist and obstetrician,[2] who was one of two women, along with Nese Ituaso-Conway, to qualify as the first women doctors from Tuvalu.[3][4] She attended Nanumaga Lotohoni Primary School and Motufoua Secondary School,[3] then, with Ituaso-Conway, was awarded a scholarship to complete secondary education in Australia at Townsville Cathedral School,[5] and then subsequently study at Fiji School of Medicine.[3] Both returned to Tuvalu in 1999 and began to practice medicine.[5] She was Executive Director for the Tuvalu Family Health Association from April 2011 to November 2016, and oversaw the expansion of its clinical services.[6] She also served in a number of government positions.[3]
